Everyday Ancestral Skills is a hands-on introduction to the Forgotten Skillz approach: reconnecting modern life with the sustainable, culturally grounded practices our ancestors used to care for home, land, food, and community. This free course gives you eight simple, meaningful micro-projects—each rooted in one of our six core pillars—that you can begin right now with materials you likely already have.
You won’t be learning abstract theory. By the end of the course, you’ll have eight real artifacts you created yourself: a ritual mindset card, a beeswax-impregnated kitchen wrap, a pebble dish pollinator refuge, a pocket-sized weaving loom, a traditional bench hook, an intimate journal entry of a 10-foot slice of land, a rosemary-thyme herb salt, and a bonus “flavor stone” broth starter. These are small, powerful reminders that ancestral skills don’t live far away in the woods—they live in our hands, homes, and routines.
This course is designed for beginners, explorers, homesteaders, nature lovers, educators, and anyone curious about weaving ancestral wisdom into daily life. Each lesson guides you step by step through a simple project. Most can be completed in under twenty minutes, and each connects you to one of the Forgotten Skillz pillars: In the Mind, In the Home, In the Yard, In the Shop, In the Wild, and In the Kitchen.
This free course is also your gateway into the broader Forgotten Skillz learning path. When you’re done, you’ll have real experience with foundational skills that lead naturally into our deeper craft, fire, food, and land-based courses—including flint knapping, firecraft, toolmaking, sustainable homecraft, and more.
If you’ve been wanting to reconnect with traditional skills, ground yourself in simple hands-on practices, or start living more intentionally without feeling overwhelmed, this is the perfect place to begin.
Start the journey. Build small skills. Make real things. Reclaim what your hands already know
