Our first outing in September of 2019 took a group of us hiking into the woods of central Suffolk County to examine natural tinder sources. We spent 3 hours in the woods, identified some local Long Island flora and fauna, and learned about some simple (and responsible) ways to make fire with flint and steel, ferro rods, and more.
