Learning That Moves Beyond Knowing

Praxis is a hands-on, interdisciplinary approach to learning designed to develop capability across multiple parts of life. Practical skills, science and engineering, communication, leadership, problem-solving, creativity, and real-world challenges all become opportunities to explore ideas, develop judgment, work with others, and learn how to turn knowledge into purposeful action.

The word praxis describes the relationship between ideas and action: understanding something, putting it into practice, learning from what happens, and using that experience to grow. That cycle sits at the heart of Praxis programming.

Rather than treating practical skills, academics, personal development, and teamwork as unrelated subjects, Praxis brings them into conversation with one another. Participants encounter different ways of thinking and doing, then discover how those abilities can reinforce each other in the real world.

Four Domains of Learning

Praxis programs cycle through four recurring Labs. Each explores a different area of capability while contributing to a larger, interconnected learning experience.

Participants may attend individual Labs or follow a continuing rotation. Every session is designed to offer a meaningful experience on its own, while participation across multiple Labs creates opportunities to make connections, apply previous learning in new contexts, and develop a broader range of abilities over time.

SkillCraft Lab

SkillCraft Labs explore practical skills, tools, materials, traditional knowledge, nature literacy, cultural technologies, and human ingenuity. Participants learn through direct experience—making, building, practicing, investigating, and discovering how people have solved real-world problems across cultures and throughout history.

Discovery Lab

Discovery Labs explore science, engineering, design, systems, and the process of figuring out how things work. Participants ask questions, test ideas, experiment with variables, evaluate results, solve problems, and revise their thinking through hands-on investigation.

Success Lab

Success Labs explore the human skills that help people become more effective in the world. Communication, leadership, teamwork, decision-making, confidence, resilience, entrepreneurship, goal achievement, and personal responsibility may all become subjects for experiential learning and practical application.

Challenge Lab

Challenge Labs bring learning together through missions, projects, field experiences, and collaborative challenges. Participants draw upon practical abilities, knowledge, creativity, judgment, and teamwork to accomplish something tangible and discover what they can do with what they have learned.

Developing Capability

Praxis is built around a broad view of what it means to become capable.

Capability includes knowing how to do things for yourself, but it also includes knowing how to learn, adapt, communicate, collaborate, solve problems, support a team, lead when appropriate, and contribute to something larger than yourself.

That development rarely happens through explanation alone. It grows through experience: trying something unfamiliar, asking better questions, making decisions, encountering setbacks, working with different people, taking appropriate risks, and seeing an idea become something real.

Praxis creates space for those experiences.

Learning Across the SynchroVerse

Praxis draws from the wider range of educational work developed across Synchronicity Coaching. Forgotten Skillz contributes practical skills, traditional knowledge, cultural history, nature literacy, and stewardship. Science and engineering experiences draw from the inquiry-based work of Onward Science and related programs. Leadership, communication, mindset, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and personal development draw from Synchronicity’s broader coaching and educational work.

The result is programming that can move naturally between subjects while remaining connected by a common goal: helping people become more curious, thoughtful, adaptable, capable, and effective.

Hands-on Forgotten Skillz experiences built around practical skills, nature, traditional knowledge, cultural technologies, making, discovery, and the joy of figuring things out.

Ages 11–14 | Praxis: Pathfinders

The full four-Lab Praxis experience, combining SkillCraft, Discovery, Success, and Challenge Labs in a continuing interdisciplinary rotation.

Ages 15 – Adult | Praxis Project

Praxis programming will continue to grow as new audiences, partnerships, subjects, and opportunities develop across the SynchroVerse.
