Scroll & StitchWorkshop (ScribeCraft III)
Before books came into wide use, messages were carried as scrolls, and small stitched pamphlets preserved everything from poetry to recipes. In this hands-on workshop, participants will take their handmade paper and ink skills to the next level by creating a finished written work—ready to gift, share, or keep.
Depending on group goals and age range, participants may craft a rolled scroll with decorative seals and calligraphy or a pamphlet-style booklet stitched with thread or yarn. Either format reinforces the evolution of written documents and introduces participants to basic layout, personal expression, and the value of preservation.
(This is the third workshop in the ScribeCraft Series, exploring the history of the written word. These workshops can be run as a complete series or as standalone events.)

- The evolution of written documents: scrolls, tablets, stitched booklets
- Layout and presentation: margins, titles, structure
- Scroll-making with decorative touches (cords, “wax” seals, embellishments)
- Pamphlet binding using a simple side or saddle stitch
