Coil Basket Weaving

A coil basket made of rope and yarn, similar to the one participants will craft at the coil basket workshop at Vision Martial Arts

Discover the ancient art of coil basketry in this hands-on workshop that weaves together creativity, history, and practical skill.

Participants will learn to craft beautiful, functional coil baskets using traditional techniques that span cultures and centuries. We’ll explore how baskets were once used for gathering food, carrying fire coals, storing tools, and even cooking over embers—and how they still serve a purpose today in a more sustainable lifestyle.

This is a great introduction to natural fiber working and circular construction techniques. No experience is required, and all materials will be provided.
