Ancestral Skills for a Sustainable Modern Life
At Forgotten Skillz, we host a diverse array of hands-on workshops and events designed to revive and teach essential skills from the past that are incredibly relevant to modern life. Our events range from wilderness survival techniques, like fire-making and foraging, to traditional crafts such as basket weaving, soap making, and leatherworking. We believe that understanding and practicing these time-honored skills can empower individuals to lead more self-sufficient and sustainable lives, fostering a deeper connection with nature and our heritage.
Exploring Improvised Tool-Building for Survival Enthusiasts
Survival isn’t just about enduring the wild—it’s about thriving in it. Join us for the next engaging session in the Wilderness Survival Workshop Series at Sands Point Preserve: Survival Tool-Making. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the art of crafting simple yet effective tools using natural resources and minimal equipment.
Led by experienced survival instructors Eric Powers and Mike Evans, this session will empower you with practical skills that make wilderness living easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of how creativity and resourcefulness can turn nature into a toolkit.
This workshop is all about doing. Bring your work gloves and survival knife (loaners available), roll up your sleeves, and transform raw materials into invaluable assets with your own two hands. You’ll leave with newfound confidence in your ability to adapt and innovate in the wild.
This tool-making workshop is part of the larger Wilderness Survival Workshop Series, where participants can join individual workshops or commit to the full series. Each session builds on essential survival skills, leading up to the exciting 24-hour Wilderness Survival Challenge in October, where you’ll put everything you’ve learned to the test.
